SPAY & NEUTER PROJECTS

From around 1,500 dogs to about 300. This is what 11 years of persistence can achieve.

In 2015, the very first spay and neuter project was carried out on Koh Kood. At that time, an estimated 1,500 dogs were living on the island.

Now, 11 years later, after years of tireless and continuous spay and neuter projects, the estimated dog population on Koh Kood has decreased to around 300 dogs.

This incredible change shows just how important long-term sterilisation programmes are. They prevent countless unwanted puppies from being born, reduce suffering, and help create a healthier and more manageable dog population on the island.

From around 1,500 dogs to approximately 300: this is what 11 years of persistence can achieve. All this could not be done without the support of the island government, Soi Dog Foundation and DLD.
